How traders use it
Trade the Wednesday and Thursday reports
Weekly crude, product and gas storage data with the 5-year comparison traders quote, as soon as it is published, in one API.
Read the curve
Twelve months of WTI, Brent, Henry Hub, RBOB and ULSD every day since 2008: contango and backwardation, calendar spreads and roll yield.
Track refining margins
3-2-1, gasoline and diesel cracks next to refinery utilisation and product stocks.
Model power load
Daily demand, peaks and generation mix by grid operator, with heating and cooling degree days as the weather driver.
Watch gas burn
Natural gas share of power generation by ISO alongside storage and Henry Hub.
Backtest without look-ahead
Every series is point in time: ask for any series as of a date and get what was published by then.

Frequently asked questions
Where does the data come from?
Weekly petroleum, natural gas storage, spot prices and power grid data come from the US Energy Information Administration; degree days from NOAA's Climate Prediction Center; futures curves, spreads and cracks are calculated by FinzData from exchange futures data.
How often is it updated?
Every day. The petroleum report updates each Wednesday, gas storage each Thursday, the grid and degree days daily and futures curves after each session.
How is the 5-year average calculated?
For each week, the average of the same week in the five previous years, the comparison used in EIA reports and by traders.
What grid operators are covered?
ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, NYISO, ISO New England and SPP, EIA's 13 US regions and the Lower 48, daily since July 2015.
How do I get it?
All energy datasets are in the Energy theme ($29 once), and in Macro Latest and Macro Complete. A free API key gets the last 12 months of every series.
