Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

This policy covers finzdata.com, api.finzdata.com, our API and the finzdata Python client, operated by FinzData ("FinzData", "we"). Contact: [email protected].

2. What we collect

• Account details: your email address and plan.
• API keys: we store only a secure one-way fingerprint (hash) of your key, never the key itself. That is why a lost key cannot be shown again.
• Usage: the number of API calls you make each day, which datasets and downloads you request, and the times. We record each sign-in, API request and file download with its time, IP address, approximate country and browser or client, and we mark each downloaded file with your account and a download identifier. We use these records to keep accounts secure, detect shared or leaked keys, enforce the data licence and answer payment disputes. Our network provider also keeps technical logs, which can include IP addresses.
• Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive your Stripe customer and subscription identifiers and payment status; we never see or store your full card number.
• Sign-in: if you sign in with Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft or GitHub, we receive your name, email address and an account identifier from that provider through Google Firebase Authentication. We never receive your password.
• Email brief: if you subscribe to the free daily brief, your email address and your confirmation and unsubscribe status.
• Messages: anything you send to [email protected].

Our website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and we do not track you across other websites.

3. How we use it

• To run your account, issue keys and deliver the data your plan includes.
• To bill you and manage your subscription.
• To enforce plan limits and protect the service from abuse.
• To send service messages, such as receipts, key changes, data incidents and changes to our terms.
• To answer your questions.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

4. Who we share it with

Only the service providers that run FinzData for us, each limited to what they need:

• Cloudflare: website hosting, network and security.
• Stripe: payment processing. Google Firebase Authentication: sign-in. Resend: sending the daily brief and service emails.
• Google Workspace: email.
• Google Fonts: our website loads fonts from Google, which receives your IP address when you visit.
• Our hosting and storage providers.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or users, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the business, in which case this policy continues to apply.

5. How long we keep it

Account and billing records: while your account is open and afterwards as long as tax and accounting law requires. Usage counts, access records and technical logs: up to 24 months (download records for as long as the licence they relate to needs enforcing). Support messages: as long as needed to resolve your request.

6. Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or to close your account, by emailing [email protected] from your account address. Depending on where you live (for example California or the European Economic Area) you may have additional rights, including to object to or restrict processing and to complain to a regulator. We will not discriminate against you for using your rights.

7. Security

We protect your information with measures that include hashing API keys, encrypting connections, restricting access to systems and signing download links so they expire. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information we will notify you as the law requires.

8. International users

FinzData is operated from the United States, and your information is processed there.

9. Children

FinzData is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

We will post any changes here and, for material changes, tell you by email before they take effect.
